Nord-Østerdalen (Norway)

The study area represents a massive multi-use landscape where a diversity of wildlife is integrated into the same areas as a diversity of land uses. This opens for a wide diversity of human-wildlife interactions with complex costs and benefits. Interactions range from hunter harvest to human-wildlife conflicts. The area includes both protected and unprotected areas that can be used to see how area protection influences the human wildlife relationship. Most is private land, with some areas of commonage. The edges include parts of 5 national parks (Dovre, Rondane, Forolhogna, Femundsmarka, Fulufjellet) and includes multiple landscape protection areas and nature reserves.
